Orizonia Corporation

The Orizonia Group (Grupo Orizonia in Spanish) is a Spanish leisure and travel group founded in 2006. The company is based on the Spanish island of Mallorca, in the Mediterranean Sea. It is one of the business groups leading Spanish tourism. Orizonia – whose shareholders are The Carlyle Group and Vista Capital - has a turnover of more than 2,500 million euros and employs over 5,000 people who offer their services to over 8 million customers annually.

Background

Orizonia was born in 2006, following the acquisition by The Carlyle Group and Vista Capital of the former issuer group, Iberostar. Some of the brands that are currently part of the group are witnesses of the spectacular growth experienced by the tourism sector in the twentieth century. Orizonia's longest running brand, Viajes Iberia, was founded in the 1930s. Years later, in 1973, Iberojet was born, the flagship brand of the wholesale division, which for nearly 40 years has maintained and consolidated its leadership within the Spanish wholesale sector.

Since Orizonia was established as the parent brand of all its divisions, the group has experienced a tremendous growth that responds to the effort aimed to rationalize its operations and profitability. This growth has enabled the company not only to expand into new business areas in a clear emergency, such as online travel sales or the commercialisation of Disney products, but also to consolidate a model of vertical integration which ensures the presence of Orizonia in all links of the value chain within the travel industry.

In 2010, Orizonia achieved a total turnover of 2.349 million Euros. A full and comprehensive range of high quality products at competitive prices with a maximum guarantee complete a unique strategy within the sector, which over eight million customers rely upon each year.

Business Divisions

Orizonia centres its business in six great areas, covering the whole chain of the travel industry through its vertical integration model in all market segments.

The retail division, Viajes Iberia, has a network of over 950 offices in Spain and Portugal. Orizonia also have six tour operators -Iberojet, Solplan, Viva Tours, Condor, Kirunna and Orizonia Life -, the airline Orbest , Smilo, the destination management company with a strong international presence in 22 countries and more than 70 destinations and Luabay Hotels & Leisure chain as well as the internet travel agencies Viajar.com and Rumbo.es, in a joint venture with the Spanish group Telefónica.
